What is the Board of Directors?

The Board of Directors is a group of homeowners elected during the community’s annual June election to serve two-year terms. These homeowners take on the legal and financial responsibilities necessary to maintain community common property, upkeep the amenities and safeguard our residents’ property values. Position Details

President

  • Must perceive the association as both a community and a business, as well as operate on the democratic principles of government
  • Must be knowledgeable of all association governing documents, local ordinances, state laws, and Federal laws to ensure that the association operates accordingly
  • Is responsible for the association’s fiscal well-being, including directing the budget process, collecting assessments, ensuring that reserves are adequately funded, and that insurance coverage is sufficient to protect the association

  • Identifies and trains potential association leaders
  • Works closely with professional managers and other association professionals to ensure the successful operation of the association
  • Acts as the spokesperson for the community

Vice President

  • Substitutes for the president in his or her absence and performs other duties as assigned.

Secretary

  • The Secretary is the Association’s chief information officer
  • They maintain all of the association’s records, and file necessary forms with state agencies
  • Prepare and distribute board meeting notices
  • Record meeting minutes and resolutions
  • Affix the corporate seal to legal documents
  • Witness and verify signatures on documents

Treasurer

  • Acts as the financial voice of the board and the community
  • Is the board’s liaison to the association’s auditor
  • Monitors the progress of the annual audit
  • Ensures that appropriate tax returns are filed on time
  • Implements a reserve program based on an engineering study and makes sure it has adequate funding
  • Implements an annual operating budget
  • Implements safeguards to protect association assets.
If you would like to be on the Board of Directors, candidate requests for annual elections submissions are issued in April of each year.
